MORE ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Kristen Lancia.  I'm married to my best friend, Ralph, and we have a fur-son, our cat Remy (a.k.a. "The Bun").  We live on a mountain next to many miles of undeveloped woods in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Because of this, our backyard is visited by an exciting variety of different creatures every day.  And since I love animals and nature, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

When I was 5 years old, I dubbed myself "Nature Girl" and made it my mission in life to spend as much time as possible outside, accompanied by my best friend and faithful companion, my dog Scout.  As you can imagine, I had many adventures and also occasionally got into trouble.  Take, for example, the day I decided to "rescue" all of the slugs I could find in the backyard.  My poor father was frantic trying to figure out how to clean off all the "slime" covering me before my mom got home from work.

Although I am now all grown up, I am definitely still the "Nature Chick" I have always been!  My favorite activities involve the great outdoors and I am extremely passionate about environmental and conservationist efforts.  I absolutely love gardening and my thumb is becoming greener with every new planting experiment.  My husband and I enjoy hiking, fishing, and generally spending as much time outdoors as we can.  I also enjoy photography (though I am very much an amateur) and have taken all of the photos you see on this blog.

I have a degree in Design, and love art and crafts of just about every kind.  I design and handcraft jewelry under the name, "Kris Lancia Designs" which you can find for sale on http://www.krislanciadesigns.com/ and at the store, "Everything Natural" in Clarks Summit, Pa.  I also enjoy drawing and painting as a way to relax in my spare time.

I have also always loved the domestic arts, except for cleaning...that should be considered a domestic chore not an art.  I love to cook (and to eat) and spend a lot of time experimenting with new recipes and ideas I have for different dishes.  Since I'm a fairly new home owner, I also spend a lot of my time tackling home improvement projects and decorating.  My style is "cottage" and I like my house to be casual, comfortable, and cozy.  I am really inspired by nature (imagine that), I use a lot of green, blue, yellow, cream, and brown in my home.

Other things that I heart include...
