So here is the first of some of the random things I think about and therefore feel necessary to include in this blog...
When I come home from work, one of the first things I do is change into my "comfy attire". And if it's not one of the first things I do, you can bet that I am wishing I could do it. By "comfy attire", I am referring to things like sweatpants, sweatshirts, cotton tees, etc. And when I say "sweatpants, sweatshirts, cotton tees, etc.", I am really meaning my pajama pants with bears on them, my very old, very stretched out, oversized Old Navy t-shirt, and my husband's old hooded sweatshirt with my added embellishments of spaghetti sauce and chocolate stains.
I've discussed this with other women, and apparently it's a Venus thing, because all of us seem to do the same thing. Obviously not everyone can be lucky enough to own a pair of bear pajama pants, but everyone seems to put on some form of relaxation gear, be it a nicely matched velour sweatsuit or a holey old tee and shorts.
Now, on the other hand, when my husband gets home from work, he immediately puts on HIS SAME WORK CLOTHES HE IS ALREADY WEARING!? What the what, people! I do not get it. The most he does is take off his tie and unbutton his shirt a little. And if it's casual day, he leaves on his complete ensemble of jeans and t-shirt! Even when I am wearing jeans and a t-shirt to work, as soon as I get home I am thinking "get this freaking bra off and where are my bear pants?!". In my husband's defense, he does eventually change into his sweats, but emphasis on "eventually". He'll gladly hangout in his button down shirt and dress pants and talk about his day or grab something to eat. And what's worse...I hear from my friends that their husbands/boyfriend's do the same thing!! Insanity.
This is one of those phenomenon I, alas, have no explanation for. Perhaps, it's because their pants and jeans are more comfortable than ours? They do not have to deal with the terrifying world of "low-rise" and "skinny" when choosing pants. Maybe their normal pants feel like our "comfy" pants? I do not know. In closing, my only solace is that I am positive of one thing...if men wore bras, you can bet your bottom dollar that the male population would be racing to put on "comfy attire" as soon as they got home.
